Roey Gilad
During his speech at the CISOs summit, Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, Roey Gilad, highlighted the importance of Israel’s quickly growing cybersecurity sector.
With more than 500 businesses active in this field, Israel has drawn in excess of $3.5 billion through investments originating from private and public sectors alike, representing an impressive 75% of the country’s total high-tech funding.
“The prosperity of Israel’s cybersecurity industry stems from robust cooperation between four primary components: the military, academic institutions, the business sector, and the government,” said Ambassador Gilad.
He emphasized that although the government plays a vital part, its main duty is to facilitate coordination among these components instead of intervening directly in their functioning.
Mr. Gilad pointed out that this collaboration has established Israel as a worldwide frontrunner in cybersecurity, where the sector constitutes around 30% of the country’s technology industry.
“Cybersecurity is a global challenge that requires international cooperation,” he said, adding that Israel is engaged in cross-border collaborations to share intelligence and develop strategic solutions.
The ambassador highlighted that Israel’s expertise in cybersecurity demonstrates that success depends on collaboration among governments, academic institutions, and businesses. He noted that in 2024, Israel faced more than 17,000 cyberattacks, which represents a 24% rise compared to the prior year. In response to these challenges, the nation’s security agency manages 119 centers focused on identifying and addressing cyber events.
Emphasizing Israel’s global alliances, particularly its work with major corporations such as Google, Ambassador Gilad conveyed his hope for future cooperation between Israel and Ghana. “We encourage you to consider partnering with us in sectors like cloud security systems and threat intelligence,” he stated, highlighting how Israel’s proficiency in threat analysis could support Ghana’s cyber defense initiatives.
The Department Head for Africa and the Middle East at the Foreign Trade Administration, Shai Zarivatch, characterized Israel as a leader in cybersecurity innovation, drawing substantial foreign investment just behind the United States. He emphasized governmental efforts such as the Israel National Cyber Directorate (INCD) that support the expansion and fortitude of this industry.
Zarivatch observed that for maintaining its technological advantage, Israel is focusing on AI-powered cybersecurity measures and developing quantum-resistant encryption techniques.
He mentioned that as cybersecurity rules become more extensive, there is growing demand for Israeli knowledge in areas such as governance, risk management, and compliance.
The conference titled “Effective Approaches for Worldwide Cyber Leaders: Boosting Organizational Safety and Productivity” highlighted the significance of global cooperation in tackling cyber threats. Both Israeli representatives affirmed their dedication to building alliances that strengthen worldwide security initiatives.
