The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has reiterated the government’s dedication to working alongside major players in the international information and broadcasting industry to enhance Nigeria’s system for sharing important news and updates.
This commitment was announced on Monday during talks with leading broadcasting and informational firms at the ongoing National Association of Broadcasters Convention 2025 in Las Vegas, USA.
At the event, Idris stated that the Bola Tinubu administration was dedicated to utilizing advanced technologies and obtaining top-tier equipment for federal government media entities to guarantee efficient service provision.
“Effective strategic communication is crucial for making sure that the policies of the Renewed Hope Agenda successfully reach the Nigerian population,” he emphasized.
The minister further emphasized the government’s intentions to allocate funds for enhancing equipment and substituting obsolete infrastructures within radio, television, and various other media organizations.
According to the minister, this will improve the dissemination of credible, balanced, and objective information to the public.
Idris also mentioned that the administration would look into forming alliances and partnerships enabling local broadcasters to take advantage of new technologies and participate in sector-specific educational programs.
During the event, the minister attended exhibitions featuring both hardware and software solutions.
The displayed items comprised broadcast antennas, transmitters, and studio gear, all crucial for boosting broadcasting capacities.
Thomas King, Chairperson at KINTRONIC Laboratories, along with Enrico Vaccari, COO of Axel Technology SRL, have conveyed their organizations’ willingness to collaborate with the Nigerian government.
Gianluca Baccalini, COO of System Engineering Solutions, and Khiran Keerodhur, COO of Thomson Broadcast, along with several others, showed their dedication to improving Nigeria’s broadcasting sector and supporting regulatory bodies.
Idris is heading a group consisting of CEOs from various agencies within his ministry to attend the NAB event.
The delegation comprised the Managing Director of NAN, Ali Muhammad Ali, along with the Director-General of the Nigeria Television Authority, Salihu Dembos.
The list includes the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission, Charles Ebuebu, as well as the Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, Lekan Fadolapo.
Included in the delegation is the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, Jibrin Ndace. According to NAN, the forum aims to enhance collaboration in broadcasting and establish strategic partnerships. The NAB event, taking place from Saturday through Wednesday, centers around the theme: “Technology, Trends, and the Future.”
NAN further indicates that the forum is concentrating on various subjects such as Artificial Intelligence, cloud visualization, the creator economy, along with sports production and streaming.
