On Friday, US technology tycoon Elon Musk’s electric vehicle manufacturer, Tesla, halted the acceptance of new orders for its Model S and Model X models on their Chinese web portal.
As reported by Bloomberg, new orders for both imported models have been discontinued on Tesla’s WeChat mini program.
Earlier, Tesla’s Chinese website featured an ‘order now’ option for the Model S and Model X models up until the end of March.
Nevertheless, it was taken down from the website on Friday.
Recently, Tesla has faced numerous difficulties in both China and the U.S.
In China, the US carmaker is under pressure from fast-growing domestic competitors such as BYD, which continues to report strong growth.
In the previous month, BYD sold 371,419 new energy vehicles, which includes those with battery hybrid technology.
