And beloved, the entirely new EverFrost 2 boasts a contemporary gray design accented with black elements. When you first lay eyes on it—and take in its pleasing feel—the large fan within the lid catches your attention. More details about this will follow. However, it’s worth noting that it no longer offers extra color choices. I own the initial version of EverFrost in green, and although I favor that hue, everything else regarding the EverFrost 2 surpasses the predecessor.
This cooler boasts sizable 6-inch wheels along with a significantly enhanced overall design. It exudes robustness, durability, and quality craftsmanship. Notably, the display is larger, offers superior clarity, and remains vivid even under direct sunlight outdoors. Similarly, the control buttons have been refined; they now offer tactile feedback and require less effort to operate. Additionally, the lid construction seems sturdier compared to previous models, featuring a smooth-acting soft-closing mechanism as an added bonus. Furthermore, integrated measuring tools include both metric (40 cm) and imperial (16 inches) scales on opposite sides of the lid—handy features when you’re out catching fish like trout or bass.
The interior light is large and luminous, perfect for locating drinks during nighttime gatherings near the campfire. The built-in bottle opener remains reliable, and it includes hubcaps should they be necessary. However, the single feature that did not see improvement, despite my expectations for enhancement, is the flip-down tray which also serves as a carrying grip when moving the cooler beside the swimming pool. While functional, it doesn’t quite meet higher standards.

Who Needs Ice, Anyway?
A key advantage of this cooler is that it doesn’t require any ice. This allows you to maximize space for snacks and beverages without worrying about spills marring your provisions, such as keeping your sandwiches dry from melting ice-water. Additionally, since regular ice isn’t cold enough to preserve foods properly, yet might accidentally freeze them, this cooler offers an impressive capability to reach temperatures down to -4°F when needed. However, should you ever want ice, there’s also a convenient drain plug located at the base of the unit.
Multiple features set the EverFrost 2 apart from ordinary electric coolers. Firstly, its portability stems from being battery-operated, allowing use in various locations. The accompanying battery offers more than 50 hours of operation time; however, this drops to around 35-40 hours when utilizing the highest speed setting among the trio of available modes—Max, Smart, or Eco—which remains quite commendable. Additionally, charging options include standard wall outlets, solar panels, USB-C ports, or even a DC adapter found in vehicles for added convenience.
Anker reduced the battery capacity from 299Wh to 288Wh in this particular model; however, this change allowed them to include a secondary battery compartment due to the additional space and improved design. According to Anker, purchasing a second battery will provide more than 100 hours of use, which should be sufficient to last throughout an entire weekend comfortably.
Furthermore, these battery packs are designed to be easily removed and serve dual purposes as portable charging devices for smartphones, drones, camping string lights, and various other gadgets. They allow you to charge a mobile device via USB-C or power other equipment using USB-A ports. Additionally, the provided carrying handle adds a convenient feature.
Ultimately, the EverFrost 2 relies on air cooling technology, a feature Anker asserts sets it apart within this category of portable chillers and boosts cooling efficiency by approximately 30%. A large fan integrated into the lid accelerates the chilling process and ensures an even distribution of frigid air throughout. Consequently, it can drop temperatures from standard room temperature to around 32°F in roughly 15 minutes. During my test using the intermediate Smart Cool setting, it took about 22 minutes for the unit to reduce the internal temp from 75°F to 34°F.
The sound of the fan is noticeable, though less so compared to the internal compressor. While it may not be considered extremely silent, it didn’t pose significant issues for most uses and operated more quietly than the compressor.

Energy consumption is naturally significant, and I’m pleased to say that my observations closely matched Anker’s claim. They stated an operational time of around 52 hours per charge, and after fully charging it for the first time and using it over a weekend, it ran for approximately 46 hours despite frequent access throughout this period. This frequency likely contributed to more frequent activations. Nonetheless, I found these results quite impressive. However, I am curious about how well it will perform during our scorching 100-degree summers with high humidity here in Texas.

After connecting the cooler to your smartphone using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi 2.4, you gain control over settings like temperature and cooling rates, check remaining battery levels and past use, increase display luminosity, among other features. Additionally, when charging with solar panels, it will also indicate the incoming power in watts.
Recently, I made a journey from Nevada to Texas, and during this drive, I had medicine that required cooling. This medication stayed fresh in my Anker cooler alongside various beverages and road-trip treats placed securely in the pickup’s cargo area. The ability to check both the internal temperature and the battery status without leaving the driver’s seat proved incredibly useful. Additionally, since there’s an electrical socket available at the rear of the vehicle, keeping the cooler charged wasn’t much of a concern even when power started running low.
The sole issue with the companion application is the lack of an option to switch off the cooler remotely. It would be great to shut everything down when heading back from the lake without stressing about the battery depleting completely. Alternatively, I could just get up and disable it myself instead of relying on the app.
