Automaker Unveils Next-Gen EVs Tackling Key Driving Concern: “Range Anxiety No More”

Karma Automotive has formally introduced the Amaris, an impressive extended-range
electric vehicle
(EREV) aimed at reshaping the standards of sustainability in luxury cars.

According to
Motor1
The car’s hybrid system includes both a gasoline-powered generator and a four-cylinder engine designed to extend the range by charging the battery. This setup helps mitigate issues related to limited battery performance and enables the electric vehicle to achieve an approximate maximum speed of 165 miles per hour.

By integrating a range-extending engine, Karma Automotive aims to offer a balance between performance and practicality. Unlike traditional battery
electric vehicles
, the Amaris’s range extender allows it to travel longer distances without solely relying on charging stations.

This design tackles one of the primary issues that make consumers wary of adopting electric vehicles:
range anxiety
It provides a more pristine option compared to traditional gasoline-driven vehicles. The Amaris is slated for commencement of production in the last quarter of 2026.

“With our gorgeous Amaris 2-door coupe and soon-to-be-revealed Gyesera 4-door, we’re building a range of vehicles that will deliver exceptional EV torque and performance paired with worry-free cruising range, a combination that only EREV can deliver,”
shared
In a press release, Marques McCammon, who serves as the president of Karma Automotive, stated.

In addition to their performance, electric vehicles provide multiple benefits compared to gasoline cars, such as decreased maintenance expenses and less environmental contamination.

A
study from MIT
discovered that gas-powered vehicles emit an average of 350 grams of carbon pollution for each mile traveled throughout their lifetime. In contrast, electric cars (EVs), which run on
batteries
when passing through the typical American power grid, this number drops to approximately 200 grams per mile.

Moreover, a
Reuters report
found that with a
Tesla
Model 3, you just need to cover 13,500 miles to offset the ecological impact linked to producing gasoline cars. Keep in mind these numbers can fluctuate based on whether your electric vehicle is getting charged via electricity produced from coal or environmentally friendly sources.

As more automakers explore electrification, concerns about battery production’s environmental impact still persist.

Extracting minerals such as lithium and cobalt for electric vehicle batteries certainly has considerable impact.
environmental impact
However, as stated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, research indicates that the total carbon emissions from electric vehicles still remain
significantly lower
That exceeds what we see in gasoline-powered vehicles. Shifting towards cleaner energy sources coincides with increasing consumer preference for environmentally friendly options.
