Gitex Africa 2025: Groundbreaking Collaboration Set to Revolutionize TravelTech in Morocco and Beyond

On Monday in Marrakesh, a strategic partnership accord was signed between the Moroccan Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Royal Air Maroc, and the Digital Development Agency (ADD). This collaboration aims to expedite digital transformation efforts.

The accord was signed by Amal El Fellah Seghrouchni, who serves as the Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reforms; Mohammed Drissi Melyani, the General Director of the ADD; and Abdelhamid Addou, the Chief Executive Officer of Royal Air Maroc.

In alignment with the directives set forth by the Crown and the strategic goals outlined in Digital Morocco 2030, this collaboration seeks to foster innovation within the travel industry and position Morocco as a premier destination for TravelTech advancements in Africa. The initiative centers around three crucial areas critical for transforming the aviation and tourism sectors digitally. One notable effort includes co-promoting Gitex Africa; notably, Royal Air Maroc has been appointed as the exclusive airline sponsor for the event.

The partners committed to fostering Morocco’s TravelTech sector by spotting and championing promising start-ups in travel and air transportation. They aim to drive this initiative via programs like RAM Digital Open Innovation, local tours, mentoring chances, and introducing a nationwide “TravelTech Innovator” certification.

This pact promotes knowledge exchange and joint innovation via training initiatives, feedback mechanisms, and shared solution development. It strengthens ties among governmental bodies, businesses, and emerging startups.

Furthermore, the collaboration encompasses specific actions aimed at digitizing the private travel industry. This involves granting access to platforms such as Moukawala Raqmya and Academia Raqmya, along with conducting digital skills training sessions.

Mrs. Seghrouchni highlighted that this collaboration embodies a mutual objective to utilize digital technology as an engine for economic progress and superior services. “Through our combined efforts, we are reinforcing our commitment to position Morocco at the forefront of TravelTech in the region,” she stated.

The CEO of Royal Air Maroc, Mr. Addou, emphasized the airline’s dedication to fostering innovation and advancing digital transformation within the aviation industry. “Our aim is to support Moroccan and African start-ups operating in the travel and technology fields—a strategy consistent with Morocco’s objectives for tourism development as well as its preparation to host significant events such as the Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup,” he stated.

ADD Director Melyani reinforced the same feeling, stating that the organization is delighted to back this progressive project, which merges innovation, entrepreneurial spirit, and global outreach.

“This collaboration embodies a common objective: to establish Morocco as a leading technological center in Africa by uniting talent, ideas, and prospects,” he said.
